What is On-demand Learning?

On-demand learning is quick, accessible, practical, and just-what-I-need-right-now learning. Think of it: on-demand learning is part of our everyday lives. When you need to refresh your memory or learn something new, you look for it until you find it.

Whether Google, YouTube, podcasts, Pinterest, motion graphics, or any number of websites, on-demand training is for busy people and puts the learning squarely into those busy hands. The learner is in charge of when and where they learn, choosing their own resource for learning and where to engage in training.

However, trusting open-source content for your employee training may not be the best strategy. In a corporate setting, on-demand learning should be carefully designed and personalized. It should be well-structured, organized, and on-brand. There is no guarantee that the open-source content is accurate and will help achieve the expected results. Employees can’t afford to make mistakes and to spend a lot of time sifting through the open-source content (which happens anyway as informal learning).
