Companies to Share Rollout Success Story at TechLearn Conference and Exposition in New York

SALT LAKE CITY (Oct. 28, 2004) — Johnson Controls Battery Group will present “The Awesome Adventures of Battery Man: Generating Excitement for Your Training Program” at TechLearn Conference and Exposition in New York City Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. Allen Communication, Battery Man’s creator, developed the hour-long e-learning project for Johnson Controls and will be on hand to answer questions.

During the session, Johnson Controls will show how the company successfully introduced elearning for manufacturing training audience by building anticipation and using appropriate humor.

“The Battery Group was implementing a new software package, Battery Enterprise System, and we wanted to ensure the rollout was successful,” said session presenter Sue Bucholtz of Johnson Controls.

In addition to developing “BES Training,” an elearning course introducing Battery Enterprise System, Allen Communication created Battery Man—course mentor and spokesperson for the program launch.

“Our plan was to create a buzz around the change through full-size character cutouts, contests and positive user feedback,” said Bucholtz.

“Battery Man was well received by our users. He lightened up what was previously dry material-and more importantly, gave our new system a recognizable face,” she said.

Good instructional design is more than content and interactions,” said Ron Zamir, president and CEO, Allen Communication.

“Johnson Controls Battery Group did a great job recognizing that e-learning can be motivating and fun. We are happy to be their partner in this endeavor,” he said.

The presentation will cover practical techniques from the world of marketing and corporate communication-as well as introduce a simple document-based tool to help transform random ideas into realistic rollout strategies.
