AJAX and E-Commerce Now Offered: AllenComm Customer and Learning Portals Implement Web 2.0 Technology

SALT LAKE CITY (July 09, 2008) — What do AJAX and e-Commerce have in common? Both of these newer technologies are used to improve the user experience and both are now available on AllenComm’s portals. In keeping aligned with Web 2.0 technologies, use of AJAX (asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is now part of the Allen Learning Portal and the Project Management Portal and e-Commerce capabilities are now an integrated option on the Allen Learning Portal.

Since AJAX techniques are used to increase responsiveness of web pages by exchanging small amounts of data in the background without reloading the entire webpage, it only seemed logical for AllenComm to implement the strategy in the portals. Not only will users be loading pages faster, they also will have a better encounter with improved usability, interactivity and security. Administrators will also benefit with improved ability to manage learning, generate reports, and track information.

Along the same lines of usability and functionality, AllenComm added e-Commerce features to its Learning Portal. Many clients were looking for users to be able to subscribe and pay for training or services while using the Allen Learning Portal. This feature set, just as all functions in the Learning Portal, can be customized to match a client’s business objectives.

“The real value in any technology is discovering the biggest impact on the end users’ experience,” states Ken Brower, CTO of Allen Communication Learning Services. “This philosophy compliments our focus on learner-centric applications as opposed to data-centric or technology-driven approaches.”

“We are approaching Web 2.0 devoid of the hype that usually accompanies such trends,” says Ron Zamir, CEO of Allen Communications Learning Services. “We believe community building and collaboration are integral to training, and we look forward to implementing these technologies for our clients.”
