Custom Training Solutions for Pharma, Healthcare and Biotech
Over our long history, we’ve had the opportunity to work with a number of organizations involved in the medical and healthcare fields, from pharmaceuticals to healthcare to biotech. In fact, we’re proud to say Pfizer and five other of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies are clients.

Because we have so much experience developing custom training for these industries, our team of designers, writers, and developers are able to easily communicate with your subject-matter experts (SMEs) to convert technical information into effective, compelling learning interactions.
In recent years, we’ve developed custom pharma, healthcare and biotech solutions for:
> Instructor-led training (ILT) and blended courses
> E-learning
> Learning management portals (the alternative to an LMS)
> Performance Support Systems (EPSS)
> Simulations
> Performance and Needs Assessments

Fundamentals of Pharmacovigilance
Our client needed e-learning to tie together existing resources, including facilitator guides, PowerPoint slides, and participant materials. We developed a custom course consisting of five e-learning modules: Introduction to Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Oversight of Pharmacovigilance, Mechanisms of Adverse Drug Reactions, Pharmacovigilance Methods, and Risks Versus Benefits.
Foundations of Quality
This award-winning e-learning program helped employees of a global pharmaceutical company understand the high costs of poor quality and the reasons why a Quality Management System is important to the success of their organization. The course presented several quality-related examples including on-the-job situations inspired by actual events at different pharmaceutical companies. These stories demonstrated how specific behaviors and practices brought about good or poor-quality experiences.
Follow-up
Our client needed e-learning to tie together existing resources, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), tools, documents, and forms. This course consisted of three modules: Global Follow-up, Marketed Products Follow-up, and Clinical Trials Follow-up.
Global Medical
This course gave an overview of the client's medical organization and helped new or transitioning employees integrate into the company culture, their new roles, and their work environment. The primary audience group included healthcare professionals, administrators and life sciences professionals.
Study Development Process
When our client shifted from a step-by-step procedure to a flexible process that relied on team member judgment to develop studies, employees participating or contributing to the study development process needed to understand the new approach. To introduce the new process, Allen developed a custom course that introduced the Study Development Process (SDP).
Records Retention
This client’s Corporate Records Management group partnered with Allen to create interactive e-learning that supplemented existing video training with additional detail. The online course provided opportunities for students to apply the concepts of the corporate policy.
Protecting Privacy
This suite of three courses, developed for a global pharmaceutical company, guided participants in making good privacy decisions on the job. As a global company, our client needed to ensure employees around the world knew the importance of complying with strict privacy regulations concerning all types of personal information, including Medical/Patient, HR/Employee and Consumer.
Argus Safety System
This custom blended solution included 16 hours of e-learning and 11 days of instructor-led training. The numerous courses trained users on system functionality like collecting information about adverse events from doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and consumers, and generating reports based on the regulations of each country where our client has a presence.
Ethical Interactions with Healthcare Providers
This course helped ensure pharmaceutical marketing, medical and regulatory employees understood global EIHCP policies and principles and how EIHCP policy applied to them within the context of their local laws and policies. Through realistic scenarios, participants learned the positive consequence of compliance, as well as the negative effects of failing to comply.
GRA Records Management
The Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) component of one of our client's laboratories teamed with Allen to create a program covering the principles and practices of records management in GRA. The course helped employees to 1) ensure company compliance, 2) protect information assets and 3) manage company records efficiently and effectively.
Principles of Medical Research
This course was designed to help a client's employees apply basic principles of ethics in medical research in a wide range of situations. To establish relevance, the course presented realistic scenarios illustrating common situations in which the Principles of Medical Research should be applied in decisions or actions. Students answered questions and analyzed each scenario in light of the Principles.
Quality Control Representative
The Quality Control Representative e-learning courses provided new Quality Control Representatives with an overview of pharmaceutical manufacturing and local processes, the responsibilities and duties of QC Reps, and how their role interacts with other groups within the Quality Control system. In addition, the course defined special assignments and projects.
Business Process Overview
This course provided new employees with an overview of the business process that governs pharmaceutical manufacturing. It also helped the client meets FDA regulations requiring manufacturers to outline and provide context for quality control representatives' job responsibilities.
Data Management System Training
Teaming with this particular client, Allen developed a course covering the principles surrounding the client’s regulatory data management system, along with skills in using the system. The course helped employees understand regulatory requirements and practices while helping them manage regulatory data in an organized consistent way that facilitated product registration. Students used scenarios and software simulations to learn their way around the system.
Compliance for Leaders
Designed for a client's management and leadership team, this course helped participants recognize the influence of compliance in the corporate environment and how the company expects executives to conduct business. After completing the training, participants should recognize: 1) the value of compliance to their daily activities, 2) compliance issues and their associated risks, 3) compliance red flags, and 4) the consequences of noncompliance to the company and the individual.
Fundamentals of Health Outcomes
Targeted at professionals interacting with global health economics, this course helped those learners seeking a basic understanding of the methods, uses, and requirements of health outcomes. The course addressed the need for health outcomes research, what it entails, and how our client uses the research.
