Proposal Writer/Instructional Design Consultant
Skills:
> Meet with prospective clients to gather client needs and scope out potential projects (for custom e-learning development).
> Consult with clients on appropriate design strategies (or involve appropriate experts in client meetings).
> Analyze client content to determine appropriate instructional strategies and enabling technologies.
> Work with courseware project managers to estimate project timelines and costs.
> Work with instructional designers, graphic artists, and programmers to determine pricing estimates and develop custom strategies to meet client needs.
> Create project plans that specify the work breakdown structure, resource allocation, and associated costs of the project.
> Implement sales strategy as defined by account representatives.
> Communicate well with internal and client executive teams.
> Produce engaging, creative proposals that highlight our work.
> Efficiently reuse existing materials and produce additional templates and job aids to expedite proposal creation and delivery.
> Revise proposals after review by sales representative and courseware project manager.
> Prepare demos and other supplemental materials that may be required during the sales process.
> Respond quickly to client requests and meet all deadlines for proposal delivery.
> Travel to client sites to facilitate scoping meetings or to give presentations on the instructional design of our courseware solutions.
> Manage a “funnel” of requests that are queued up for scoping, proposal writing, etc.
Experience:
> At least 4-5 years of previous experience in instructional design, project management, or proposal writing for either internal or external training projects.
> Experience in instructional systems design (ISD) preferred, but candidates with significant experience in related fields or industries will also be considered.
Education:
> MS or MA in relevant field (candidates without an MS or MA should have equivalent years of industry-specific experience).
Work Samples:
> Detailed descriptions of previous project work should be included in your cover letter.
> Work samples, including both writing and/or design samples from previous proposals or projects, may be requested from those candidates who are invited to an interview.
