Training Course Development for Instructional Design? There’s an app for that!

It’s been a month since we released DesignJot, the first iPad app for instructional design. And we couldn’t be more pleased with the response it’s received from the training and development community. DesignJot has already surpassed our expectations for downloads and we’ve been receiving some excellent feedback.

Here’s what the blogosphere has been saying:

“For those who have never had the pleasure of going through corporate training, it can become quite tedious rather quickly. But with DesignJot those in the business of training employees, whatever their skill level, in-depth training becomes a breeze”

“Professional who write corporate training instruction will find so many great tools that will optimize the process of developing and designing a customized training solution for your clients.”
My iPad Apps

“Most of all, I like that it’s an app. The mere fact that it’s self-contained sets it apart from all of the versionitis-ridden Word docs you might ordinarily use to analyze a project.”

The chatter on Twitter has also been encouraging.

Our original intent for DesignJot was to offer a tool that would help corporate trainers and designers.  But as was pointed out to us, this app also has benefits for traditional k-12 and higher education.

Design Jot is a great tool for anyone in an education related role who is designing, or helping to design, learning and teaching materials at all levels of education and training. While the language and wording are geared at trainers and developers of instruction in business contexts, the process you are guided through is equally applicable to K-20 educators. DesignJot will help any teacher or trainer to systematically design and develop a course, unit or workshop.”

  1. Hi! I’d like to find out when this app would be available in the Philippines. I am a trainer/course developer by profession and I’ve been really excited to get this app and install it on my iPad. Hope it will be available soon. Thanks so much and looking forward to your reply.

  2. I saw a demo of Design Jot at the Digital Learning Forum (St Paul MN). Great looking app! Are there any plans to make an Android version?

    1. That is great to hear Jenny! Not sure when the Android version will be out, but I would love to network with you about where you see the biggest needs for mobile learning. If you would like to discuss, please let me know.

      Thanks!

  3. I would also love to see an app like this or this particular app on Android. I am and avid android user whould would love some app assistance with design and development in my job. I’m a curriculum developer for a technolog ycomapy and this would be a great addtion to my tools.

  4. I’m using Design Jot and so far it seems a great tool – Is there any way to export each project to a format that is compatible with Office tools? Although I’m developing it in Design Jot I’ll have to share the outputs with people that don’t necessarily have the app. Appreciate your help on this.
